Situated at the exit of the highway or the national road, you will discover an exceptional place, rich of an important historic and cultural patrimony.
The spot of Sigean is especially well-known for her Daniel de Monfreid African wild life sanctuary
, created in 1974 by Paul de la Panouse and : a natural reserve of 300 hectares situated at the edge of a pond where more than 3 500 animals live.
We chose this place of interest for its vegetation of nearly African type and a pond densely inhabited with pink, white and red flamingos, pelicans, swans, herons and many others...
In this wild life sanctuary live also 300 mammals, 150 reptiles, as well as of numerous endangered species (bear of the Tibet, Greek tortoise, ass of Somalia, ostriches, white rhinoceros...).
But Sigean possesses also a oppidum pre-Roman that is to say a town with fortifications from the roman antiquity, a medieval district, a museum of the region of Corbière and an ornithological museum, as well as a nautical base which will allow you to discover the islands of the complex of the lagoon of Bages-Sigean.
