Built on the banks of river Aude, Quillan appears in the middle of a huge high mountains spot which raises from 300 to 1 200 metres.
Principal town for tourists in the high valley of river Aude, it's one of the best excursions place of the Pyrenean front-mountains. The old town is dominated by an important military fortress of the XII-th century and the convent of the guardian angel of the XVII-th is one among others which are all poetically named.

Something to discover also is the church Our Lady of Roman style of the XII-th century, mansions and picturesque alleys.
The walkers will appreciate a stroll along the conservation area which are the banks of river Aude, where, when walking towards the Old bridge which leads you to the ruins of the castle, you will admire the impressive rocky surroundings of the city.
