This village located in the region called Lauragais, not far from the city called Castelnaudary
, near the border of the department of Ariege is the jewel of the regional gastronomy.
It is famous for being the capital place in France of the Foie gras.
Every year, this charming village, organizes just a little bit before the end of the year, the great Fair in Fats and in March, the Fair in the conserve of duck and goose.
A part of Belpech was built on a prehistoric site. In the village, you will discover the medieval defensive place, the church Saint-Saturnin (dedicated to the martyr from the town named Toulouse), and the bell tower.
The Romanic portal deserves itself to be looked at. Its arch moulding with four arches is remarkable with its sculptures of animals and dragons. The most surprising is the presence in the corner pieces of the Virgo and the Angel Gabriel.
A stone's throw away from the small market town, on the hill of Castelas, are still the relics of the fortified castle, built in 1060.
