Rieux-Minervois is situated in 25 km of Carcassonne
and in 60 km of Béziers
. Rieux-Minervois is the village centres of the Minervois, it is also the most important as population with 1 940 inhabitants.
One distinguishes in the village several very different districts some of the others:
. A part(party) intra-muros, dark, little aerated with tortuous, narrow streets, impasses. But it is there where one can still see the interesting rests of old houses and it is there as well that are the Church and the Castle with its tower which dominates the bridge the river the Argent-Double.
. A part(party) extra-muros, called "Barry", which goes along(follows) the right bank of the river.
. A more recent part(party), it is saint-Anne's district, on each side Peyriac-Minervois's road.
. A last quite new part(party) next to the station.
The village is situated between the chain(channel) of the Black mountain with the summit : Nore's peak (1. 210 m), where is a television relay station, and Alaric's montagne, a first foothills of Corbières. The village is 115 metres over the sea level and is swept(annihilated) by the winds of is (East) (maritime) and of the West (Cers).
The wines of Minervois, is looked for because of their sharpness and of their bouquet.
