In 1564, king Charles IX, accompanied with his mother Catherine de Médicis, with his brother Henri III and with Henri de Navarre (future Henri IV) , was received luxuriously in Saint-Privat by Jean Faret and his suzerain the viscount of Uzès
, which(who) organized in the honor of the festivities under the arcs of Pont-du-Gard. Then the castle became fortified town of the Protestants. In the said room the Seers were held the first meetings of the reformed religion.
