The Abbey of Saint-Roman is not engaged(does not surrender) at once in the first to come.

The one that wants to discover her(it) in the case of greenery at the top of a hill should at first follow the road of the monks, punctuated with stations, where some panels will supply him(her) the first elements of the history of places. From his arrival the guest will be confronted with a mineral universe worked by the nature and more still by the hand of the man.

Modern pilgrim he can then discover at its pace all the monastic installation dug in the limestone : chapel where sees still itself the grave of the Holy founder, the immense wards, the cisterns, the juicer with wine, primitive cells and, everything in the summit, the strange air churchyard where more than 150 graves proclaim in face of the sky the faith of those that dug them. Reached there the guest can contemplate the extraordinary panorama of the bass valley of the Rhone which extends in feet.

In the place of graves the vestiges of the castle builds here in the XVI-th century call still back(remind still ) the bloody conflicts among Protestant and catholic which saddened the region and cost the life to feudal lords. Outside the enormous rocky mass presents still

stigmas of the successive works which gave to the abbey its current face.

Here the guest is in front of a site to the raw state which in kept(preserved) the wild aspect and the magnificent isolation of the previous history. Here, no useless animations, no risky reconstructions but a single magic word : the authenticity.
