The project of the creation of the museum is born in 1989 and succeeds in 1995.

It(he) was inaugurated on April 30, 1995, in the daytime of the " Holiday of the Tree stump " demonstration become ritual in the municipality of Générac. The economic past of the village justifies largely this initiative. During centuries the municipality was an important centre of the cooperage.

This collection took place in a room situated at the western first floor of the wing of the castle, which dates the end of the XI-th century.
