Vigan

The old Romanic bridge

The town is based at the means - age by come monks of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert who build a prieuré.

In the 16th century houses are surrounded with a wall forming a quadrangle endowed with five doors and with six tours(towers).

the Ancient(former) capital of the silk and the hosiery shop, this city of 5 000 inhabitants offers to the guests of numerous attractions:

- Several particular hotels among which Assas du 18th' century magnificent Castle.

- The park of Sweet chestnut trees, the vast space of rest and relaxation in the shade of trees several times hundred-years-old.

- Three beautiful octagonal fountains of the 17th, called " griffouls ",


- The old Romanic bridge of the 12th,

- The museum native of the Cévennes which shelters silk trades and numerous objects, tools, movable which are connected with the popular traditions of Cevennes
