In Sommières


Sommières 2000 years of history : The presence of Vidourle coastal river, and the likely existence of a passage towards the region of Limestone plateaus (ford), the most moved back since the times attracted(enticed) the man who settled down in this place.

Discoveries upstream to the valley (caves, prehistoric tailleries of flint) let think that the human being lived on this site since several millenniums.

to see :

- The bridge Roman (Ier century AD),
- ruin of the Castle (previous to the 8th century) an impressive square tower of the 12th century of which remains,

- The Carries(wears) of the Clock decorated with the coats of arms of the city (XVI-th century).

Animations :

- The Celebrates Medieval (last weekend of April),
- The test of Motocross in March.
