Uzès

The tower Fenestrelle

Classic art "Ucetia" of Roman time, Uzès was a bishop's palace of Ve century until 1790.

The various wars of the history tried(felt) the city which was often destroyed.

In 1565, the Lord of the city, the Viscount of Crussol, is raised(brought up) to the rank of Duke, his family always lives in the castle since about 1000 years.

to visit :
- The duchy : castle of Crussol's family with its square donjon of the 11th century (so named tower Bermonde), its octagonal tower of the 14th century, its Gothic chapel of the XV-th century and its magnificent facade the Renaissance.

- A crypt of the II-th century : primitive Christian sanctuary decorated with curious bottom - reliefs.

- The tower Fenestrelle (XII-th century) only Romanic tower of cylindrical shape in France.
- The constructed cathedral Saint-Théodorit from 1645 till 1660 whose organs were restored in 1967.
- The constructed church Saint-Etienne from 1765 till 1778 whose bell tower is an ancient square tower which was a part of the strengthened surrounding wall(speaker).

- The museum 1900 : agrarian machines, fire engines, former(old) motorcars.
- The museum of the Train and the Toy ,
- The museum of the Candy "Haribo" .

- The valley of Eure : discovered(found) in 1993, the vestiges of the regulating pond of the debit(output) of water of the aqueduct Roman which went to Nimes by way of the bridge of the Gard .
