Being seen by the village

The "Borgne" valley is in crossed by the "Gardon" and groups together(includes) five villages :

Saint-André-de-Valborgne, Saumane, Estréchure, Plantiers, Peyroles. Of the prehistory in tribes Celtic, Roman to the monks of Saint-Marcel de Fonfouillouse's abbey ( shaded fountain), the life was widely present in this part of the country.

In the XVIII-th century, Castanet, leader of the Aigoual, immortalized the spirit of Camisard. The region pulled(fired) its resources of the agriculture and the very ancient(former) industry of the wool.

The sériciculture knew a big extension in the XIX-th century; so became established of numerous

spinning mills.

The trout (Fario), the wild boar, the mushrooms (ceps), the sweet chestnut, the honey and the goat's milk cheese( Pélardon), are among most gouteux of the cévenole kitchen. Paths are fitted out at feet of every village and wind through the moors of heath, the wood of sweet chestnut trees, pines or holm oaks. Follow the "Guide of Paths".

The most put off times, in the spiral of the 2000's, how many sources sprang and rocked the life of this country, where the current man can refresh his heart, his body and his soul... For any information, please, contact the Office of Tourism.
