The town of Vauvert knew a big good name about Moyen-Age. Then called Posquières, it was the seat of one of most considerable places of pilgrimage of France, hardly after that of Our Lady de Boulogne. Regrettably, there is no monumental track of this time.
The most famous person Vauverdois is certainly the marquees de Montcalm, the native castle of which is in the entrance(entry) of the city, near the CD 135. This hero died in 1756 during the seat of the city of Quebec by the English during the war for the ownership of Canada.
The current city, situated in the heart of the Vineyard of the Costières of Nimes, has the typical character of the agricultural villages of the last century.
