Municipality of 1143 inhabitants, Saint-Victor-la-Coste is situated in 14,5 km of Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Saint-Victor-la-Coste, it is first of all three different hamlets in the North of vast forests of the plateau gardois.
The most interesting of these villages, the one that possesses the built patrimony which makes(does) of Saint Victor one of the most famous villages of the department, is unquestionably the one that appparaît on the north hillside of this called plateau) "Coste".

In 1220, people who live in the village took as boss the Christian martyr Saint Victor, and the village was called "Ad Sanctum Victorem" and, during the enumeration of 1384, "Sanctus-Victor-de-Costa", that is Saint-Victor-la-Coste : under agreed by the "coast of the Rhone".
The ruins of a castle, the Castellas, Lords of Sabran, vasseaux of the Count of Toulouse, marry the summit of this hill. Various vineyards are classified in two category : coast of the Rhone, coast of the Rhone village, proposed by the cooperative cellar and the particular cellars.
Three monuments were classified ancient memorials :
- Chapel Martinmas, the construction of which would go back up(raise) to the year 1050,
- Mayran's Romanic chapel, with its restored hermitage,
- Saint Victor's old laundries.
