The name Cailar would come from the Latin castellum word which means castle. It(he) would have afterward taken the shape of castlarium, to caislar.. The aforementioned castle was destroyed(annulled) by Cop during the religious wars.
As all the conglomerations of the Camargue, or adjoining its swamps, Cailar was chosen by the first occupiers because it established(constituted) a high point, a "clod", and because it benefited from the contribution in fresh water established(constituted) by both streams which surround him(it): Vistre and Rhôny. Cailar is above all, a village of taurine tradition. Indeed, one penetrates into the village by the circle from the Wild boar, the name of a famous jingoistic bull, for whom a grave was specially built and whose stele one can see near. Furthermore, amphitheatre, where take place during the 9 days of local holiday, in August, journeys(shopping) in the rosette, are registered on the supplementary inventory of ancient memorials.
On the architectural plan, Cailar is endowed with a church
