Peyrou

The Royal Place named Peyrou was built in 1688 by Daviler on the heights of Montpellier (from there overview on the region of Cevennes and on the sea).

On one side is a triumphal arch of the seventeenth century decorated with engravings which recall the great moments of the reign King Louis XIV.

The Triumphal arch

In the middle of the Royal Place, there is an equestrian statue of King Louis XIV with the appearance of a Roman emperor.

On the other side there is a very beautiful water tower conceived by Giral and the aqueduct Saint Clément conceived by the engineer Pitot on the same lines that ones of the bridge of the Gard which drains the water of the fountains of the city towards the source of river Lez.
