Museum of Ephèbe

L'Ephèbe d'Agde

The Museum of Éphèbe in Cap d'Agde, consists in twelve rooms in which are exposed the excavations of the delta of the river Hérault by the group of research of underwater Archaeological divers of the city of Agde.

You will discover the history of the navigation since the Antiquity until the eighteenth century.

You can see during the visit :

- Boat of period Greco-Roman
- The Navigation during the Middle Age The royal sailing navy
- A collection of amphoras which is important and very instructive...


This museum contains many treasures, but the most important one, and which you should not absolutely miss it the Éphèbe of Agde , who gives his name to the Museum.


This statue made of bronze, fished up in 1964, is a real wonder, and represents a charming inhabitant of "Agathé Tydré", in its simplest expression.

Something to know : a workshop exists to the children who are interested in the Greek painting.


Regularly the Museum shelters temporary exhibitions. Then if you stay or decide to drive to the cap d'Agde , no hesitation, please do visit this place !
