This museum municipal
is managed by the service of Archives since 1982. Installed(settled) in a former(ancient) apartment in the first floor of Varennes's hotel, Place Pétrarque, it(he) presents different collections by their previous history, their supports and their aesthetic qualities or testimoniales.
Black Virgo and Plan Dillon : The hall welcomes some some of the chief details(rooms) of the museum, the most beautiful of which is no doubt the " black Virgo " and its tabernacle, the madone to the child, the polychromatic wooden statuette of the 13-th century.
She is not in charge of a history because she replaced Magestat Antiqua which throned since the end of the 12-th century in Our Lady of Tables without that we knew the origin and the road which led(drove) her(it) until us, but she provokes an indisputable emotion because of the sharpness of her lines(features) and the sweetness of her expression.
In the hall one can also see the Plan Dillon (18-th century), called so by the name of his(her) addressee, the archbishop of Narbonne, as well as watercolours and prints among which the Seat of Montpelier.
Room of Procéssions : The room said about " processions " presents besides some portraits, religious statuettes among which a beautiful series of angels of the Passion of the Christ and the sticks of processions of the brotherhoods of Penitent of Montpelier.
Lounge(show) of the 18eme century : The Lounge(show) of the 18-th shows some furniture of this time, notably a clock of table and a cabinet of mother-of-pearl, and some objects of art among which a blue cameo.
