Ganges

The old Bridge

At first named Aganthicum (place of the treasure), this city is since the Antiquity a place of exchange.
It used to be the capital of the luxury silk stockings in the eighteenth century.

Located in South of Cevennes, not far from the Garrigue, Ganges is a tourists place of exchange. It's very sunny during the summer and the climate is still mild all the rest of the year.

The holiday-makers will notice the dynamic atmosphere which is present in the city, they will appreciate the shops of the city and the shopkeepers always ready to be in tourists services.

That's not all to say about Ganges there is also the mountain, the pleasures of walking or climbing, riding horses, take pleasure to be in the nature...

  The Church Saint-Pierre

Places to be seen :

- The church Saint-Pierre, rebuilt in 1860, whose organ was offered by the empress Eugénie (wife of Napoleon III).

- The Protestant temple, unveiled in 1851, is one of the most important in the region.

- The tower of the Clock, the ancient belfry from the seventeenth century in which there is a bell dated 1531.
