Situated just a few step from its neighbour city "Agde
" and some kilometres away from Béziers
, the site of the Cap d'Agde is an advance into the sea, providing from a flow of lava, which went down from the Mountain Saint-Loup (Holy Wolf), ancient and without activity volcano, itself 700 000 years old.
In 1963 the building of the new seaside resort was decided. Nowadays it is the place of interest the most frequented by people in the region Languedoc.

In the seventeenth century, Richelieu had already decided to create a harbour in this place, that's why the mole got his name. However, when he died, the works were stopped. Today about eight harbours (public or private) greet about 2 000 boats.
This village is a real paradise for the revellers. The city centre and the harbour are full of restaurants, bars, and other places for entertainment. However, for those who wish to have a party until the early morning, direction to "l' Ile des Loisirs (Island of leisures)". You will find there dozens of discotheques, bars, restaurants, as well as a casino and a theme park.
The founders of the city Cap d'Agde built away from the city, an entirely autonomous village of naturists, where about 30 000 persons meet there every year ; it is indeed the most important village of naturists in Europe.
The beach consists in 14 kilometres of thin sand, accessible through footpaths, on which you will enjoy the calm, except maybe on July the fourteenth and on August the fifteenth.
To sum up : sea, sun, holiday and fairs are the principal words of this seaside resort.
The culture is not forgotten however and to realize it, please, do not miss the museum of the Éphèbe
