The Church of Chastanier, Romanic style, dates the end of the XI-th century.
Dependent on the prieuré Benedictine de Langogne, she(it) was formerly one of the places of passage of the pélerinage leading(driving) in Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, the suggestive name of which she(it) keeps(guards) still " of Church Saint Jacques ".

Undergoing alternately the exactions brought by the long-distance lorry drivers of the war of Hundred Years, and at the end of the XVI-th century by the Protestants, the religious sanctuary will not escape the confusions brought by the French revolution, where it will be sold.
During this period, two fireproof priests will be protected to Chastanier, among whom the one, the Abbot Guillaume Seguin, will be tortured and buried in July, 1795, under the paving stones of the hall of the church, according to his wills.
However, with the rehabilitation of the religion in the XIX-th century, the church and the presbytery will be again opened and maintained.
So, Chastanier'ssite
, in spite of all the chances of the history, was passed on to us in good condition.
It(he) is so of our duty, to keep(preserve) him(it) to pass on and make discover its(his) patrimony to the future generations.
