The former(ancient) administrative centre of the town of Gabales under the Roman activity(occupation), Javols, who will carry(wear) successively the names of Anderitum
and of Gabalum and who counted, as it is said, up to 3000 inhabitants, is not any more today than a small rural village about 300 souls.
|
searches(excavations) practised every summer supervised by the Ministry of the Cultural affairs confirms that Javols is one of the richest and the most important archeological sites of the South of France (museum to be visited).
Situated in 6 km of Aumont-Aubrac
, in 950 m of height, in a pleasant frame of meadows and forests of pines, the village is established along the river of Triboulin, the tributary of Truyère, known well by the fishermen, on which was fitted out a small stretch of water.
The Municipality counts also a tennis court and a village hall.
The village, so pleasant in its site, was the place chosen as the installation and the functioning of a Domestic and rural House intended for the agricultural and forested education.
The surroundings count numerous small picturesque villages with their robust granite houses, and wild roads which lead(drive) the walkers of a stopover of discovery to the other one.
