During ages, the name of the village sometimes evolved, but it was always associated to the custom(usage) and to the company(frequence) of the thermal spring. For the Roman, it was "Aqua Calidis" (warm waters), then came "Baïol" and "Balnéolum".
In 1219 the village is named "Baet" then, in 1364 "Balnéa". It is in 1607 when Banïols's name appears, followed in the XIX-th century of Bagnols's baths and finally, in 1961 , the village takes the name of Bagnols's baths and finally, in 1961, the village takes Bagnols-les-Bains's name.

In the heart of the furrow dug between the Mountain-Lozère and the mountain of the Bottleneck, in this valley of the Gévaudan which joins the trays of Vivarais, Bagnols-les-Bains, dressed in grey schist is a village sat(based) astride on both banks of the Lot.
Every year in the summer months, this village of 200 inhabitants shakes its wintry slowness with the arrival "of estrangers", persons having hydrotherapy, travelers, tourists, or holiday-makers come here quite specially(deliberately) to look for the rest which distribute the natural resources of this country.
It is thermal, smoking and sulphurated waters, suintantes at feet of a cliff streaked by rust that establish(constitute) the Bagnols-les-Bains's main charm.
The village counts a dozen opened businesses all year long, among which of the hotels, a pharmacy, a station service, a casino.
Pedestrian and marked out paths cross all the region, you can ask for the information the office of Tourism.
