Sainte Tombe d'Aarles-sur-Tech (Holy Grave)

This white-marbled sarcophagus from the Visigoth, of two metres long dates from about the fifth century after JC.

The Holy Grave...

In the tenth century it received the relics of Saint Abdon and Saint Sennen (the Patron saints of the city).

Every year this grave which is raised and protected by railings fills all the year round with water which has unfortunately no curative effect, but which remains a real mystery, as there is no hole at all and no one knows where does that water come from.

No scientific explanation resolved this enigma, but for a long time the inhabitants of village and the surrounding region dedicated to this grave a particular devoutness.

For some years, they are not any more the only ones to have such a devoutness because a lot of visitors come to this place, hoping too to resolve this enigma or at least to see this strange phenomenon.
