Cathedral of Elne


The city named Elne was in the antiquity the only one of the possible land passages possible between the Iberian countries and the Mediterranean Gaul.

Its prestigious heritage is the result of what the History has built slowly .

The Convent and the Cathedral :
Elne, see of Roussillon from 568 to 1602, reveals in its oppidum a Romanic cathedral from the eleventh century and its convent made of white marble built from the twelfth to the fourteenth century.

The visible architectural entirety shows nevertheless all the evolution of the medieval sculpture from the region Roussillon from the roman style to the Gothic one.
