In 1428, the Abbey is seriously damaged by an earthquake. Abandoned by the monks in 1783, she(it) falls in ruins.
From 1902 till 1932, Mgr. de Carsalade of the Bridge, bishop of Perpignan
, having acquired(bought back) ruins, raises(finds) them partially by collecting all the elements scattered in the region.
From 1952 till 1971, Dom Bernard de Chabannes finishes the restoration of the Abbey and restores there the spiritual life.
At present even, important works are achieved, thanks to the generosity of each.
Saint-Martin-du-Canigou's abbey is a place where the religious life is maintained. The liturgy is celebrated there by a catholic monastic community.
