Cerbère

When you're coming from Banyuls-sur-Mer , in the direction of Spain, you will cross the picturesque village of Cerbere .

Much more friendly than its name would appear for the non initiated people, Cerbere was a dog with several heads which had to look after children in the Greek mythology.

Cerbere

Located between sea and mountain, this charming village with its white houses, its steep alleys, its pedestrian paths, its magnificent small port, its beach with pebbles in schist looks like not any other place.

Its rocky coasts are the paradise of the submarine divers, actually it was the first navy reserve in France.

For those who love nature and old stones they will be more than happy because several strolls will lead you throughout various cols, towards the menhirs of he "Pedradrete", towards the dolmens of "Coma Estapera" or even towards the ruins of the tower "Carroig".
