Argelès-sur-Mer is located in Albères, very near from Collioure . The name comes from the Latin "argilla" because it was built on clayey lands. This typical village of Roussillon has still kept its own cachet.

When you are strolling in the alleys you discover houses with intense colours. You will see the rests of ramparts dating from the 14th century and the imposing church in Romanic style with its wonderful Bell Tower.

The museum of art and of Catalan traditions "la case de les Albères", will make you discover the trades and tools of the past.

If you are more attracted by water sports in Argelès-sur-Mer, no problem : the beach is two kilometres far away.
