Tautavel is situated in the Northwest of Perpignan
, between Estagel
and Viagran, in the middle of the region called Corbières.
In the middle of vineyards and very near of Pyrenees you will discover this charming small village where you can visit the relics of the past of its Feudal Castle from the thirteenth century and its tower with signals of X0e century "Torre Del Far".
But Tautavel is known in all the world because of the man whose name is the same one, or rather what stayed nowadays from him and which was discovered between 1971 and 1979, which, as a matter of fact places this man in the second position of oldest European man.
