Sylvanès's abbey

Got(touched) by the divine grace(favour) one night of Christmas 1125, the Lord Pons de l' Héras stops his robberies to dedicate itself to the prayer and bases Sylvanès's abbey in 1136.

The surprising history of this man will lead(drive) this magnificent Cistercian monument at about a century of brilliance before sinking for a long period of decline.

The revolutionary storm neglected this convent. A part(party) will become agricultural building(ship), the other one will be allocated to the parochial service, finally the rest will be destroyed(annulled) and used as material of construction.

Classified Ancient memorial in 1854, the Abbey is acquired(bought back) by the municipality of Sylvanès in 1970.

Today, it is a cultural and spiritual Centre of international fame.

The abbey is also a rich experience(experiment) of the economic and social development of the rural world by the culture.
