Diving suit

The museum of Espalion's diving suit was created in 1980 around the inventions of espalionnais Benoît Rouquayrol and the brothers A. And L. Denayrouse.

In 1860, the mining engineer Benoît Rouquayrol finalizes(works out) a " regulator for the drainage of compressed(restrained) gases ".

He can guess only he has just assured(insured) definitively the autonomy of the submarine dive.

The invention is indeed intended for a device of rescue for the minors taken in poison gases or floods of galleries.

In 1864, Auguste Denayrouze, lieutenant, decides to adapt this regulator for the penetration of the maritime capital.

Helped by his brother Louis and by Rouquayrol, he finalizes(works out) the first modern aqualung with reservoir under pressure and regulator with membrane.

Noticed by Jules Verne in 1867, it(he) knows an international fame. Thanks to the use in the novel twenty thousand leagues under seas where he equips the Captain Némo and his men(people).
