Created in 1913 by the historian Urbain Cabrol, president - founder of the Company(society) of the Friends of Villefranche-de-Rouergue
and of Bas-Rouergue, municipal museum is installed(settled) since 1975, place de la Fontaine, in a particular hotel of the XVIII-th century.
You will discover it the sarcophaguses of gallo-Roman and medieval time which are arranged in the basement.

In the 1-st floor are presented the collections of prehistoric, Gallic and gallo-Roman times, the Greek, Egyptian, Amerindian art, canaque...
As well as numerous samples of minerals of different origins.
Also to see the room Doctor Jean-Louis Alibert, founder of the French dermatology, common doctor of kings Louis XVIII and Charles X.
The collections of religious art are organized in the 2-nd floor.
And to end a big showroom dealing with art and with traditions popular, with a reconstruction of a kitchen rouergate of the last century.
