Sévérac le Château

Plenty in the middle of a protected heritage and limestone plateau and valleys, the spot named Séverac invites you to come and enjoy a great number of cultural activities but also, as funny as it may seem, relax activities.

The castle named Séverac castle, fortified town since the antiquity, will let you know its history through its ramparts, towers, curtains, main buildings dating from the Renaissance period...

In this castle, from 10 o'clock till 12 o'clock you will discover secrets of the way of cooking in the Middle-Ages this, of course, according to the day recipe.

Sight of the Castle

If you want to, you can also visit the archaeological Museum where are presented the objects of the daily life from the fifteenth century to 180 000 years BC.

By strolling in the alleys of the medieval town, you can admire and visit, the Maison des Consuls, (exhibition of the ancient documents, models of the Castle towards 1669, ceiling and fireplace dated from the Renaissance period), Jeanne's house, (one of the oldest of Rouergue), Sesteyral which is the market hall, the Romanic Fountain and the church Saint Sauveur.

Don't forget to have a look at half-timbered and corbelled houses, workshops.
