Villemur, quoted soon millennium, snuggled up formerly in the surrounding wall(speaker) of its ramparts, was quartered in the XVI-th century among(enter) papistes and Huguenots. Baronnie set up as viscounty will have the honor to receive in its walls in 1585, Henri de Navarre, future king Henri IV

This one, will come the viscounty to Duke de Lesdiguières who will make build luxurious one house: the Attics of Roy. This Duke will order the demolition of ramparts and castle, but will protect very fortunately the Tower of defence. Until the last century, the fate of Villemur is bound(connected) to that of the river.

Today, the city reserves to its guests the secret charm of its streets, its monuments and its banks of the Tarn.

To discover : the Attics of the Roy du XVIIème century, the tower of defence of the XII-th century, the church Saint Michel. By promenading according to streets, please , admire the old houses with half-timberings. Please, discover the very beautiful panoramic sight since the water tower and appreciate the charm of the banks of the Tarn during a walk.
