Being seen by the village

Perched in balcony over the average valley of Durance, the village springs from a waterfall of olive trees.

Lurs stretches in spur between the castle in the North and the seminar in the South.

The historians agree to attribute(award) to Charlemagne the foundation of Lurs.

A pleasant open-air theater settled down on a natural slope of the ground : these stony terraces do not go back up(raise) beyond 1960's.

In the South of the village raises itself(draws up itself) the silhouette of the castle, the fruit of different times. On the left of the building(ship), sections of wall in rubble stones of limestone and base of a tower date Moyen-Age.

From there, leaves "the walk of the bishops": this path, lined with fifteen oratories, leads(drives) to the chapel Our Lady of Life.

The small road which joins Ganagobie's prieuré steps over the ravine of Buès on a Roman bridge ; this work of art bound(connected) to the Way Domitienne which followed Durance is a tangible witness of the impact of romanisation who strongly marked so these high lands of Provence.
