In between the sea and the mountains, just 14 km from the beach, there is a village called Tourrettes sur Loup where, a hundred years ago, violets chose to grow and even today, the culture of this delicate flower is one of the main activities. The quantity of flowers produced has earned Tourrettes the name of "Violet Village".
Built on a rocky peak surrounded by precipices, this medieval fortress, with its ideal climate all year round, has remained intact. Tourrettes dates back to the 11th century when it was a fortified village whose houses formed the ramparts and its rich and varied stylish architecture is centred round the semi-circular main artery.
