Formerly Saint-Laurent-du-Var was a place of transit and passage commanding(ordering) the crossing of the Var, a particularly whimsical alpine river.

Because of her strategic position, Saint-Laurent-du-Var was many a time destroyed(annulled) by the epidemics, the wars, the invasions or the innondations. The inhabitants moved during time along the right bank of the Var according to these historic accidents before taking root towards the end of the millennium.
