Overhanging the current village of Garde-Freinet
, the Strong Freinet dominates the only access road which connects the valley of Argens in the bay of Saint-Tropez.
Ten years of campaigns of archaeological searches(excavations) allowed to loosen(kick away) the vestiges of a village strengthened by Moyen-Age (at the end of the XII-th - the end of XVI-th centuries).
To reach it the path forms by place of stairs, it goes along(follows) the cliff up to the doors of the village, where one can see the rests of around thirty houses cut in the schist.
They stage on several different levels and are protected by a ditch from 8 to 10 m from depth.

The conditions of the destruction of the Strong Freinet are known, but its origin, the questioning of the Saracen activity(occupation) or the function(office) of certain houses, feed the discussions, on a site which has not yet delivered all its secrets.
Conducted tour of the Strong Freinet Thursday at 9. 00 and on meeting from Tuesday till Sunday with the Office of Tourism.
