In 1793, under the regime of the Terror, Toulon is engaged(surrenders) in Anglo-Espagnol which formed a blockade in the Mediterranean Sea.

The English strengthened the already considerable defence of it and construirent notably at the top of the hill Cairo in Seyne , one dreads in earth(ground) and wooden called Mulgrave dreads.

In the night from 16 till 17 December 1793, the French soldiers removed this dreads after violent fights in which participated Napoléon Bonaparte, then to preside(officiate) of artillery, which there véçu a wound.

Le Fort Caire (he will become the Strong Napoleon only later) will never participate in fights, excepted(except) in 1944 during the liberation of our territory.

Disarmed(moved) in 1973, it(he) returned to the city of Seyne which made it proceed to important works of restoration.

Opened to the public since 1984, the Strong Napoleon shelters a Cultural Centre of Meetings and exchange as well as the Gallery of Contemporary art the Head of Obsidian. It(he) welcomes numerous demonstrations among which the Festival of Latin music, the Festival of Jazz and the Holidays(name-days) Calendales.
