Church Paroissiale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption
Translated by software

The history of the Church :
The companions of Raphaël de Garezzio had built their first church, the " gleya ", by the sea. They built other one of it, towards 1540, in the place where is the current building.

The bell tower was built in 1634. Towards 1680 one decided to enlarge the parochial church. Mainly for reasons of financing the company lasted near century.

The bursar of Provence became a project manager towards 1772, and thanks to the radical organized(been organized) measures (the purification of the means of financing and the decision to demolish everything except the bell tower and to rebuild for nine), the works were ended in 1784. However, it was necessary to wait for 1820 so that the new church is dedicated by the archbishop d' Aix-en-Provence.

The building :
The construction is sturdy. His(its, her) sober facade in white limestone dominates the roofs of the city of Saint-Tropez .

The former(ancient) bell tower sees itself by far, with its deep ochre and pink. The main altar is situated das a rather vast, elegant apse, covered with multicolored marble. At the end of the side nefs, are, to the right the altar of the Virgo, to the left the altar of Saint-Tropez.

The other altars are dedicated to Saint Joseph, John Dory, saint - Thérèse and Our Lady of the Nurse. An altar of unusual conception is in the straight(right) lateral nef: sculptured in the marble of the altarpiece there is a head of death and an other, macabre, is placed everything in the top of the altar. Here, formerly were said the " masses of exit(release) of mourning ".
