Charming small village at feet of the Sainte-Baume, Mazaugues means étymologiquement "Body of water". This village singularise by its mountain stamp due to its height in the coolness from its numerous sources.
The most famous are "Caramy and Issole". They begin their long progress through the Var, they are surrounded with hills the biggest of which dominate Mazaugues of their 900 m of height.
Village rich in feudal past, one can discover to it : the ruins of a castle overhanging the village as to assure(insure) his(her) nurse of it, the church, known for its triptych of the 15th century and the big fountain of the 18th century.

One also finds there the tower of the clock, the municipal laundry, the mill with oil, etc.... Rich also in industrial past, Mazaugues was famous for his(her) ruins of Bauxite and the manufacture of the ice(mirror).
Today Pivaut's icebox, completely restored, remains accessible(approachable) to all.
Of magnificent and interesting walks can be envisaged by paths of big drives(rides) to discover Gorges of Caramy or the surprising Circus of Echellettes.
Finally, discover Mazaugues for the "idleness" in the shade of its hundred-years-old plane trees, or go(surrender) to it in family, around a part(party) of pétanque on the place André-Pedeau.
