Ramatuelle is situated in the South of the conglomeration of Saint-Tropez and in the center of the peninsula. The exceptional territory opens on the Mediterranean Sea by its famous Pampelonne's bay.

The name of Ramatuelle is connected with no group of known place-names.
Two advanced hypotheses formerly, are constestées today by the historians : Rahmatu' llah :

mean in Arabic "divine Providence". Arabic origin due to the Saracen activity(occupation) of the X-th century. Camatullici : a ceto-ligure tribe established on the banks of the Gapeau quant arose the Roman conquest. This tribe becomes established on the place of Ramatuelle's village.

She was called Camatullici. One said in the time, the region of Camatullici. The "R" of region would have supplanted the "C" to become Ramatullucci then Ramatuelle. The mystery remains whole...

You will discover it a rich cultural patrimony with the Church Our Lady, the former(old) prisons, the Saracen door, the monument of the resistance...

The paths of the coast will lead you to the Beach of Pampelonne, to Camarat's lighthouse, to beach of Escalet.
