| Abbaye Cistercienne Notre-Dame des Dombes |
 |
Being based by Aiguebelle abbey (Drôme) in 1863, to establish in the heart of Dombes in 1000 ponds a community, which, by its work and by its prayer, restored courage to a population weakened by the fever of swamps, the Abbey Cistercian (Trappist monks) of Notre-Dame des Dombes works on the land reclamation of numerous swampy ponds, inciting, for example, the population to make(do) also, and to improve the return on a poor and badly cultivated earth(ground).

Faithful to the currency(slogan) Benedictine "ora and labora", prayer and work, the monks lead a contemplative, community and brotherly life, and share their time between the prayer, the work and the study. They welcome for some days the men(people) and the women who wish to collect themselves in the silence and to participate in the prayer of the monks. The Community received, in collective title, the Legion of Honour and the Croix de guerre for its contribution to the Resistance in the Nazism.
The Abbey church is opened to the public during the day. To the shop of the Abbey (opened from 9 o'clock till 12 o'clock and from 14 o'clock till 18 o'clock) one can buy notably the famous "Musculine G", reconstituting powerful and stimulant made by the monks, as well as fruit jellies, jams and other monastic products. For any information, please, contact the Abbey.
