On September 19, 1846, 2 young herdsmen saw appearing, on the sides of the Mountain Gargas, the " beautiful lady ", who announced them miseries to come, confided(entrusted) them to each a secret and recommended them to announce to everybody the meeting which they had just made(done).

From 1852, a basilica and a hotel business were built to welcome the more and more numerous pilgrims.

Today, Salette, height - place of the religious tourism after Heavy, receives several hundreds of thousand pilgrims every year
