Saint Michel, leader place of Canton, town of 3 000 inhabitants, in 711 m of height, consists of numerous typical hamlets situated on the sunny hillside of the Bow.

It is for a long time a hinge important for the crossing of roads leading towards Italy (the Tunnel of Fréjus in 18 km), Tarentaise and Briançonnais.

At feet of big alpine collars, near the friendly stations (Valloire, Valmeinier, Orelle... 23 stations in Maurienne), in the Doors of the national park of Vanoise, Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne is situated in the heart of the Maurienne and of the tourist zone rich in any seasons.
