being seen by the village

Yvoire is one of the most beautiful villages of the High Savoy history.

It(he) emanates from it a simple and quiet chame. In the grey and cold season, it(he) appears from mists of the lake in its(his) original magnificence and its(his) torpor fascinates the walkers.

From the beautiful days, it(he) counters itself and is colored and the sheaves of flowers make(do) on grey stones of the multicolored tasks.

From the high Middle Age the men(people) lived here ! And Romans before them. In the 12th century, Yvoire is already a seigneurerie, but it is at the beginning of the 14th century when the military architects of Amédée V the Big, Count of Savoy, make a village of it strengthened.

There are these works of the essential vestiges: Castle, Doors, Ramparts etc.... The plan of streets did not change since this time and certain alleys are even more former(old).

It is during the 16th century when Yvoire will undergo the hardest assaults of his(her) history and his(her) strategic importance will there be affected.

Grand projects aiming at giving there way strong of very big importance for the 17th century, not having succeeded, the village will dive into a lethargy and an anonymity which(who) will protect him(it) from any intempestice transformation.

And it(he) will wake up only to welcome more and more faithful guests for which Yvoire will always live a place of dream and incomparable disorientation. For any information, please, contact the Office of Tourism.
