The Entre-Deux carries(wears) well its name, because it is enclosed between the Bras-de-la-Plaine and the Bras-de-Cilaos.
The first colonists arrive towards 1718. The intervening period is the Mecca of marronnage, the hilly landscape allowed to the runaway slaves to see by far and to put itself under cover in case of danger.
