In the high, green and wet region, the Plain of Palmistes is a magnificent town flowery and shaded by plane trees.
To the 18th, palmistes pushed in abundance on the high hillsides of Saint sanctimonious
, so much that they gave the name of this village.
Hubert de Montfleury having anticipated the strategic position of the plain of Palmistes, made open a track connecting Saint sanctimonious in John Dory
by the inside of the island. And so this small village took its development from the release(extension) of this road, the road was asphalted in 1958.
At the end of the last century, the water from the sources of Arm Cabotest became famous, revealing by the Doctor Jacob de Cordemoy, this férugineuse water will be sold a good price by the inhabitants of the Plain.
Sources are buried by masses of fallen rocks and the path of the arm mutt is at present used to make in Takamaka.
