Saint-Denis, the Prefecture owes its name to a French vessel, "Saint-Denis", which cast anchor three centuries ago. In 1738, Mahé de Labourdonnais, Governor of Mascareignes implants there the administrations. The south, underestimated and abandoned district but contains an appearance(mine) of the tracks of past.

- The Plain of Affouches with the forest of Cryptomérias it is also a zone of picnic and the departure of numerous drives(rides).

In the Mountain :

- Colorado with a zone of leisure activities and picnic with golf, equitation, tennis...
- The St Bernard which is an ancient(former) Leper-house.



On the spot sports and leisure activities do not miss. Drives(rides), VTT, tennis, equitation, water sports... Museum of Natural History, Zoo of the Cauldron, Artothèque, the Garden of the State...
