The "first one" Saint-Louis settled down in front of the factory of Gol where remains at the moment only an old cemetery. It is here that is buried a priest of shock, the Father Lafosse, favorable to the French Revolution and to the abolition of the slavery.
Expelled from the island in 1798, after a strike of the taxes, it(he) will find its(his) parish in 1802 when it(he) will end its(his) life.
The Chapel of the Rosary, built in 1727, is the most ancient(former) of the island. She(it) is near the River Saint-Etienne. The city of Saint-Louis keeps(preserves) some beautiful shops in the district of the Church.
