Sainte-Rose was born around her port the "Quay of Rose", it is there that the colonists settled down. The first inhabitants practised various cultures (coffee, cotton, spices...).
But the sugar cane took quickly the step on the other cultures. Sainte-Rose known a big Battle off her coasts among Français and Anglais under the empire.
No road connected Sainte-Rose, also goods and men(people) took the sea to join the other cities.
One builds a first bridge enters Sainte-Rose and Saint sanctimonious
on the east River in 1842. This one was destroyed(annulled) in 1862 during strong floods, one throws(launches) then a bridge between both pillars (vestiges of the first bridge). But the passage was so narrow as two persons could not cross at the same time.
Finally, 32 years later, in 1894, the Suspension bridge is constructed. In 1977, the lave crossed twice Hook Sainte-Rose by saving(sparing) the Church.

You can practise hikes or in VTT, the fishing, the dive, and for the most rash the bungee jumping on the Suspension bridge.
